Marble Mountains in Danang City

There is a good news for tourists in Vietnam, who loves exploring the mountains because in Da Nang City, you can find a beautiful mountain, called the Marble Mountains. If you are in Da Nang City, you just need to go 9km to the southern part of the city along the Truong Sa beach and you can find this wonderful mountain in the district of Ngu Hanh Son. This beautiful mountain in the region is a known and a famous spot to travelers coming from different countries.

What makes it a wonder and a famous tourist spot? Isn’t amazing that the Marble Mountains are consisting of various mountains that are named after the elements, such as, the fire, wood, metal, water and earth. These mountains are called, the Mountain of Fire or Hoa Son, the Mountain of Wood or Moc Son, the Mountain of Metal or Kim Son, the Mountain of Water or Thuy Son and the Mountain of Earth or Tho Son.

On the Kim Son or the Mountain of Metal, you can find a shape that looks like a Bell on the banks of the Co Co River. The highlight in this area are the Quan Am Pagoda and the Quan Am Cave, a mysterious cave where you can find stalagmites and stalactites that represents dragons and Buddha figures.

The Moc Son or the Mountain of Wood has steep slopes, so it’s not accessible to public.

The Hoa Son or the Mountain of Fire has a zigzag-shaped river that symbolizes the yin-yang, giving the lace harmony and peace.

The Tho Son or the Mountain of Earth has a small group of mountains that are formed by marbles and clays. Because of its rectangular shape, it was said that it resembles a sleeping dragon.

The Thuy Son or the Mountain of Water is said to be the most beautiful among all the five mountains, covering an area of about 15 hectares.

What do you expect to see in the Marble Mountains? In the mountains, you will find various caves, tunnels, Buddhist sanctuaries and Hindu grottoes. Some of the grottoes that you can find in the mountains are the Huyen Khong and the Tang Chon. You will also find some pagodas or temples, such as, the Tam Thai, the Tu Tam, the Linh Ung and the Pho Dong. Not every mountain is accessible for the public, but the Thuy Son or the Mountain of Earth, the largest among the five mountains, has a stairway that consists of 156 steps, which will lead you to the panoramic view of the area and other mountains. From the Thuy Son, you can see the Vong Giang Tower or the Riverview Tower that was built by Emperor Minh Mang in the 18th century. Also from this spot, you can have a good look at the Mountain of Metal or Kim Son, the Truong Giang and the river of Cam Le.

At the foot of the Marble Mountains, you can find a peaceful village, named the Non Nuoc Village, which is a very famous place for handicrafts and stone sculptures. It is also where you can buy various products, accessories, and sculptures.
